New Wolves signing Andrew Surman has expressed his disappointment at the plight of former club Southampton.
The midfielder has moved to Molineux for an undisclosed fee, believed to be in the region of £1.2million, as manager Mick McCarthy plans for life in the Premier League.
Southampton, who are without an owner after the Matt Le Tissier-fronted Pinnacle consortium ended their interest, were happy to accept the offer given their monetary difficulties.
The Saints were also relegated to League One last season, as well as being hit with a 10-point penalty for financial irregularities, and Surman is saddened by the struggles of the club.

"We didn't have a bad team, but we were losing games thick and fast and dropping down the table," he told
Sky Sports News.
"Getting relegated, and the 10-point penalty, and no owners - it is just unbelievable really.
"It is sad to see because it is such an amazing club, such a big club, with facilities and a big fan base, and it has all gone to pot at the moment.
"If they can get a new owner, that will be great."
Disappointment
Surman, who began his career with the South Coast club, also views the collapse of Saints legend Le Tissier's takeover as a major setback.
"It is another disappointment," he added. "Everyone's hopes were high when they heard Matt Le Tissier was fronting a consortium.
"I feel sorry for him because he has tried as hard as he can to get someone to take over the club, get some money in and get some structure back.
"I think he fully believed that was going to happen."
