Colchester have bolstered their defence with the loan signing of teenager Danny Batth from Wolves.

Teenage defender joins Us on loan

Colchester boss Aidy Boothroyd has moved to bolster his defence with the loan signing of teenager Danny Batth from Wolves. Boothroyd has seen his options reduced with Pat Baldwin, Paul Reid and Lee Beevers on the sidelines through injury. And the Us boss has now agreed a deal which will see promising youngster Batth spend the next month at the Weston Homes Community Stadium. Centre-back Batth should be in contention for Saturday's visit of Hartlepool along with fellow loan signing Kayode Odejayi.

Vincent boost

Meanwhile, the Us have been boosted by the news that Ashley Vincent's ankle injury is not as serious as first feared. The winger was stretchered off after scoring against Swindon last weekend, but an X-ray has confirmed he did not break any bones. "It will be touch and go for Saturday, but on a positive note it is always pleasing when injuries aren't as serious as first thought," said physio Tony Flynn.
