Wolves full-back moves north of the border to build experience

Hibernian have secured the signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers right-back Matt Doherty on loan until the end of the season. The 20-year-old has moved to Easter Road looking for first-team experience before aiming to challenge for starting place at Molineux. Doherty will reunite with Hibernian manager Pat Fenlon who was his coach at Bohemian before he moved to Wolves in 2010. The defender made his Wolves debut in January last year when he took to the field in the FA Cup tie against Doncaster before making his first Premier League appearance at Anfield in September.

Chance

Doherty, who is contracted with Wolves until 2014, aims to make the most of the opportunity gifted to him by his former coach with ambitions to return to Molineux and push for a regular starting position. "I'm excited about playing for Hibs and working with Pat again," he told the club's official website. "He has given me the chance to get some game-time and I am looking forward to it. "Hopefully playing first team football week in, week out will benefit me in many ways. "My aim is to do as well as I can for Hibs and then go back and challenge for a first team place at Wolves next season."
