Manager Terry Connor has confirmed that defender Roger Johnson will remain Wolves skipper despite a breach of club discipline.
Johnson has issued an
apology for his conduct after allegedly turning up for training on Monday under the influence of alcohol.
Connor says his behaviour was unacceptable and has taken action against the defender, but there are no plans to strip him of the armband.
Former Birmingham man Johnson will also be in contention for Saturday's vital Premier League relegation clash with Blackburn at Molineux.
Connor said: "Roger reported for work not fit to train properly. I would be disappointed with any player in that situation. I said to him what he did was unacceptable.
Consideration
"The matter was dealt with on Tuesday, he has apologised, he knows he did wrong and has taken his punishment."
When asked if Johnson will stay as captain, Connor added: "There are no immediate plans to change anything. He carries on as captain for the foreseeable future.
"Since Monday, Roger has prepared well all week and he will be under consideration for Saturday's game."
Johnson has been dropped from the starting line-up under Connor and was an unused substitute on Sunday as Wolves were thrashed 5-0 by Fulham.
