The Trinidadian midfielder underwent trials at all four clubs, but opted to move to the South Coast after being impressed by the club.
The 19-year-old feels he has made the right decision by moving to Southampton.
"I had trials with Rangers and West Ham before I came here," Jones told the club's official website.
"They both wanted me but this (Southampton) felt like home. I feel comfortable here.
"It is a good club with a nice bunch of players, a good manager and coaching staff."
Meanwhile, Saints defender Fitz Hall has played down talk over a possible call-up to the Scotland national team.
Scotland coach Berti Vogts had hinted that he could call up the former Oldham ace after learning he qualified through his grandmother.
"I have not heard anything from Berti Vogts or anyone else. All I know is what I have seen in the press," Fitz told the club's official website.
"It is flattering to read these stories but that has not even gone through my head.
"I would rather get into the Saints first-team before I even start thinking about international football. That is a long way off."
