Tessem enters Lions Den

Millwall have signed Southampton striker Jo Tessem on a month's loan.

Millwall have signed striker Jo Tessem on a month's loan from Premiership side Southampton.

The Norway international was frozen out of the Saints' first team under the recently departed Paul Sturrock, having taking a previous loan spell with former club Lyn at the end of last season.

Despite a change of manager at St Mary's, current head coach Steve Wigley has not used the Scandinavian in his line-up to this stage.

After receiving contact from Lions player-manager Dennis Wise, Tessem took the opportunity to join the South East London club for a four-week spell.

"I got nine months remaining on my contract with Southampton," Tessem told TV2 Nettavisen. "But I guess that I'm finished there already.

"Hopefully, I can do something just as good and sensible in the last time, to play some football.

"I guess it could have been solved in a better manner, but that is the way football is.

"With this deal, both Millwall and I have time to reflect. The timing is right, the club have got quite a few injuries in the position that I play."

Tessem is unlikely to make his debut until Sunday's home clash with Nottingham Forest, as the striker is ineligible to appear in Millwall's Uefa Cup clash with Ferencvaros in Hungary on Thursday.
