Harry plans Morris move

Harry Redknapp is poised to bring Millwall midfielder Jody Morris to St Mary's.

Harry Redknapp is reportedly poised to bring Millwall midfielder Jody Morris to St Mary's.

The diminutive schemer is wanted by the Saints chief to help the club to an immediate return to The Premiership following last season's final day relegation.

Morris, 26-years-old, has not been shy of controversy in a career which has included spells at Chelsea, Leeds and Rotherham but Redknapp is confident he can bring the best out of a one time England prospect.

It is expected that no fee would be involved in taking the player to the South Coast, should Southampton concur on personal terms.

A move for Morris could be made even more of a necessity if as expected Jamie Redknapp announces his retirement later this week.

The talented former England international had hoped to help his father next term in The Championship but it appear the strains of a long-term knee injury have now ended his playing career.

Redknapp has been in the USA visiting top knee specialist Richard Steadman and has had one operation already in a bid to find a workable solution.

However, the popular 31-year-old has reportedly now reluctantly accepted advice that has urged him to pack in playing.
