David Prutton has told Sky Sports he is fed up with all the drama going on at St Mary's.
The Southampton midfielder recently threw his support behind Sir Clive Woodward being installed as the club's new manager, but he told Sky Sports News he is worried that football is becoming a side attraction.
"I'd rather see a boring club that just did our job, played well and got on with whatever we have to get on with and none of this up-and-down stuff which makes it a bit of a sideshow.
"It's not what this club is about. It's a very traditional club with a lot of great fans who deserve better.
"It has been quite bizarre over the last year, being in the middle [of it]. The only thing that really matters is how the team's playing and if it's winning."
Meanwhile, Dennis Wise revealed his belief that he and caretaker boss Dave Bassett can take The Saints back into The Premiership.
"Obviously there's been a lot going on at this football club," said the former Wimbledon midfielder. "But I'm confident that with this group of lads, if given the chance and given long enough, we're capable of getting them out of this division."
