Southampton manager George Burley admits he has been impressed by Czech trialist Mario Licka.
The midfielder, who spent a trial spell with West Ham last summer, played the full 90 minutes for The Saints in a 1-1 draw with Bristol City on Tuesday night.
Licka's current contract with FC Slovacko is due to expire imminently, and the 24-year-old has taken advantage of the chance to impress at St. Mary's.
Burley admits he has taken a shine to the Czech hopeful, and that he will continue to run the rule over the midfielder as he looks for further reinforcements.
"Mario did well," Burley told the Daily Echo.
"He showed a lot of energy, worked hard and it certainly was a good performance.
"He is on a free transfer and we'll keep looking at him."
Licka has previously played for Italian outfit Livorno and Czech side Banik Ostrava, before coming to England in a bid to further his career.
