Hull hope for Prutton talks

Hull manager Phil Brown is aiming to persuade Southampton to sell David Prutton.

Hull City manager Phil Brown is aiming to persuade Southampton to sell David Prutton in January.

The midfielder was born in Hull and Brown is keen to bring the player to The KC Stadium to boost the club's Championship survival bid.

Prutton is out of contract at the end of the season and Brown is hoping that could work in The Tigers' favour.

"George (Burley) has said the player is available for transfer because he's in the same situation as Craig Fagan where his contract is up," Brown told the Hull Daily Mail.

"They are looking to recoup some of the money that they paid for him.

"As a former England Under 21 player, he is the type of player that you would be interested in to hopefully take the club to the next level.

"Because of that, we are looking at discussions with Southampton."

But Hull's bid may not even get off the ground after Southampton boss Burley revealed his intention to keep Prutton at St Mary's.
