George Burley says Leon Best is close to agreeing a new deal with Southampton.
Southampton boss George Burley says Leon Best is close to agreeing a new deal at St Mary's.
The 20-year-old striker is out of contract at the end of the season.
Coventry, Leicester, Luton, Bristol City and Nottingham Forest have all been tracking the striker, who netted his first senior goal in Southampton's 6-0 drubbing of Wolves at the weekend.
But Burley is confident the youngster will commit his future to the Saints in the summer.
"We've been talking to Leon for the last couple of months and we're not a million miles away from agreeing a deal, but that will probably wait until the end of the season," Burley told the Daily Echo.
"I've spoken to Leon, he wants to stay at Southampton. It's just a case of getting the right deal for both parties."
