Southampton rejected a £20m bid from Liverpool for Lallana earlier this month, but the Merseysiders have returned with another attempt to sign the England international which Sky Sports News understands is their final offer.
Liverpool are thought to be determined to complete the deal before Roy Hodgson's squad fly out to the World Cup.
Lallana, who played 73 minutes in England's 3-0 friendly win over Peru, could link-up with international and club team-mate Rickie Lambert at Anfield.
The Saints striker is expected to be confirmed as a Liverpool player on Monday, barring any last-minute hitches. He was on Merseyside on Saturday morning to undergo his medical.
It has been a tumultuous last week for Southampton, with manager Mauricio Pochettino leaving to take charge of Tottenham, while they face the prospect of losing at least two of their star players.
Lallana meanwhile was delighted to be given a chance to stake a claim for a starting place against Italy in Manaus.
Lallana said: "It was a good result and I am delighted with the team performance in the end.
"I was delighted (to start). Obviously, getting in the starting line-up for the first game in Manaus is what everyone's striving for and hopefully I've done enough to impress the manager and show him what I'm capable of.
"It was a good result and we move on to the next game."
