Southampton's impressive form in September has been recognised in the nominations for the Player and Manager of the Month awards.

Ronald Koeman is up for the manager's award after guiding the Saints to three wins out of three last month, while in-form striker Graziano Pelle and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin are nominated in the player category.

Leicester boss Nigel Pearson, Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock and Chelsea's Jose Mourinho are Koeman's rivals for the monthly honour.

Pearson oversaw a tight victory at Stoke before the Foxes earned a stunning 5-3 win over Manchester United, although they lost their unbeaten September record with a 2-0 reverse at Warnock's Palace, who followed up a goalless draw against Burnley with a battling win at Everton.

Mourinho led Chelsea to the top of the Premier League after wins over Swansea and Aston Villa either side of a 1-1 draw at title rivals Manchester City, but Southampton enjoyed a perfect month as they saw off Newcastle, Swansea and QPR.

Pelle netted three times in September, including a stunning winner against QPR, while Schneiderlin established himself as one of the most dominant midfielders in the league while also scoring his third goal in two games against Newcastle.

Manchester United star Angel Di Maria is also among the nominees for the Player of the Month award after scoring twice last month, while West Ham's Diafra Sakho found the target three times to take his tally to five goals in as many starts.

Leicester striker Leonardo Ulloa also makes the list having scored three goals last month including one in the win over United, and Palace captain Mile Jedinak completes the list after scoring against Everton and Leicester.
