TOWN MELT ICEMAN LINK

IPSWICH TOWN boss George Burley has dismissed rumours that his club are planning a move for Stoke City's Icelandic international Brynjar Gunnarsson.

The Tractor Boys already have one Icelandic star on their books in the form of Hermann Hreidarsson, and rumours have suggested that they are eyeing Potters' Player of the Year Gunnarsson.

Town manager Burley, though, was quick to pour cold water on the speculation, saying: "There is no interest in in him whatsoever. That transfer rumour is as cold as ice."

25-year-old Gunnarsson cost a club record £600,000 from Swedish outfit Orgryte in January and is valued in the £1.5 million bracket.

Stoke are prepared to sell their prize asset after failing to overcome Walsall in the Division Two play off semi-final, but Burley has made it clear that Gunnarsson will not be joining his international team-mate Hreidarsson at Portman Road.
