POINTS SHARED AT BRITANNIA

STOKE CITY and Cardiff City shared the spoils in their Division Two promotion encounter at the Britannia Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The encounter was tense throughout, but all the drama was confined to the final ten minutes. Stoke took the lead thanks to a Daniel Gabbidon own goal, but Cardiff grabbed a point when Dean Gordon scored on 84 minutes.

Gabbidon (pictured) was unfortunate to turn the ball into his own net in the 81st-minute, but his blushes were spared when Gordon equalised.

The goal deserved to win the match, let alone rescue a point as Gordon smashed home a 25-yard free-kick.

Both sides had chances to win the game, with Stoke almost snatching the winner when Neil Alexander was forced to make a low save from Marc Goodfellow in injury-time.
