The struggling First Division outfit are stuck in the relegation zone with nine games left in their fight for survival.
But their prospects of avoiding a swift return to Division Two could be scuppered if early predictions regarding Iwelumo's fitness are correct.
Iwelumo has been plagued by a nagging knee problem for several weeks and aggravated the injury in Saturday's stalemate against Sheffield Wednesday.
The 24-year-old also collected a hip injury in the match and Potters boss Tony Pulis admits he will be surprised if Iwelumo turns out again this term.
"He has now got knee and hip problems," lamented Pulis. "I am not sure we will see him again.
"He could be struggling to play at all, or at least to start another game, but you have got to say he's gone out there again and given it a good go like the other lads."
