The 20-year-old defender has gone straight into Town's squad for Saturday's game at Doncaster Rovers and could make his full debut.
Wilson has made only one senior appearance for Stoke this season, but director of football John Rudge has stressed that the club regard the youngster highly.
"He is very highly thought of here, but going out on loan will benefit him at this stage of his career," stated Rudge.
"It's a chance for Brian to gain some experience of first-team football, hopefully on a regular basis, and it will stand him in good stead for the future."
Wilson becomes John Ward's first signing since taking over at Whaddon Road and the new Town boss agrees that the young right back shows genuine talent.
He said: "I've seen Brian play a number of times and have been impressed with his athleticism and touch.
"He is a young boy who needs an opportunity and I am willing to give it to him."
