Tony Pulis has stated Valencia striker Nikola Zigic is just one of a number of targets Stoke are looking to bring to the Britannia Stadium.
With the new Premier League season days away Pulis is keen to bolster his numbers in order to prove the critics wrong and steer The Potters clear of the relegation drop zone.
Stoke have already brought in the likes of Thomas Sorensen, Seyi Olofinjana and Dave Kitson this summer and while they have been linked with Zigic, Pulis is keeping his options open.
"We're interested in lots of players," Pulis told Sky Sports News. "I have to say he's (Zigic) one of many players we've been talking to.
"We've got targets that we'd like to bring in. There are a lot of things that go into bringing a deal together.
"Unless you're one of the big clubs who can just throw money around without worrying about waste.
"We've got to be a little bit more selective and careful with what we do.
"If we get in good players we'll get them in. In an ideal world we could have done our business sooner."
Meanwhile, Pulis is remaining tight-lipped whether the club will retain trialist Amdy Faye, who is currently training club from Championship outfit Charlton.
"He' only trained a couple of days. We'll see," he continued. "We've got the opportunity of keeping him a week or so and then we'll make a decision."
