USA international given permission to play for Stoke

Stoke City have been granted a UK work permit for their newly signed USA international Geoff Cameron. The 27-year-old joined the Potters from MLS side Houston Dynamo but needed to get permission from the UK Home Office to ply his trade in England. Both Stoke manager Tony Pulis and the club's chief executive Tony Scholes attended the hearing in Manchester on Wednesday, after which Cameron was given the work permit. "We are delighted that the appeals panel have approved the work permit and we are now in a position to conclude the transfer," said Scholes on Stoke's official website. "It's been a difficult period between agreeing the transfer deal and the hearing, most difficult for Geoff in particular because his life has been on hold. "Thankfully though, we have now progressed to a point where Geoff can focus on the start to his career at the Britannia Stadium." Stoke will start their Premier League campaign with an away game against Reading on Saturday August 18th.
