Stoke boss Tony Pulis admits there is 'loads of stuff' he is hoping to press ahead with before the transfer window slams shut on 31st August.
The Potters boss has just one week in which to complete any outstanding business.
He continues to be linked with a number of potential new recruits, with former England international Michael Owen among those said to figure prominently on his wish list.
Pulis is refusing to be drawn on names, but concedes that he is hoping for movement at the Britannia Stadium before the end of the month.
He said: "There is loads of stuff we are trying to do next week.
"We will do our business as we normally do our business, with the players first and foremost and then we will let the press know afterwards."
Wires crossed
Pulis has also shed light on Harry Kewell's recent visit to Stoke's training ground, rubbishing any suggestion that the former Leeds and Liverpool midfielder could be offered a contract.
He said: "Harry turned up and I think there were crossed wires with his agent and with ourselves.
"We thought he wanted to have a place to train and work, and we were more than obliged to look after him.
"I think Harry thought there was something more concrete at the end of it. It was crossed wires but we have sorted that out."
