Shrewsbury have confirmed the signing of former Peterborough defender Nathaniel Knight-Percival.

The 27-year-old was released by Posh following their defeat in the League One play-offs against Leyton Orient and new Shrews boss Micky Mellon was delighted at securing the former Wrexham defender's signature. "He's a fantastic addition to the group. He's a lad I've known and admired for a long time," Mellon told the club's official website. "I was hopeful and determined that I was going to get him in to add to the group and I'm delighted to get him in with the qualities he brings to the squad, his great pace, his ability on the football and he wants to get better." Knight-Percival, who made more than 50 appearances during his two-year stay with Peterborough, said the ambition shown by his new boss was a big factor when deciding to sign. "The manager's a very ambitious man and wants to do very well with the team," said Knight-Percival. "He sold it to me and I've basically come on board for those reasons. "It will be very interesting being part of the new team, the new regime. "I've played against Micky's teams before and they've always been hard to play against - it's nice to have the deal done and to be able to start thinking about next season." Knight-Percival becomes Mellon's second signing of the close season after winger Ashley Vincent arrived from Cheltenham.
