Stoke City's Oussama Assaidi is eager to get back into action after working hard over the summer to get fit.

The 26-year-old re-joined Stoke from Liverpool on a season-long loan on transfer deadline day after his first spell at the Britannia was cut short by injury.

Now back fit, Assaidi, who made 19 appearances and scored four goals for the Potters last term, is determined to repay Stoke boss Mark Hughes’ faith in him.

He told The Sentinel: "I've worked very hard and I've not had a long holiday over the summer.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says he's delighted to sign Oussama Assaidi on a season-long loan deal from Liverpool.

"With my injury I've had to train really hard with Liverpool, in the gym as well as out on the training pitch so I can't wait to play my first game.

"I've had a little bit of pain with my injury but now I am fit and hope to play."

Back home

Regarding his return to the Britannia, he told Stoke City Player: "I'm very happy to play again for Stoke. It's like I'm back home because I know everyone.

"I know the players, I know the boss and I know the fans of course. I like the fans, they still like me I think and I'm very happy to be here.

"Everyone here has always been really nice to me, they treat me well and that's why I'm happy we finished this deal."

Assaidi is ready to fight for his place in a side which beat Manchester City last time.

"The competition for places here is good and that can only be good for the team. I know what my qualities are though and I need to show them.”
