Charlie Adam would attempt a long-range effort "two or three times a game" during his time at Liverpool, Jamie Carragher said on Monday Night Football.
Adam scored from 64 yards for Stoke on Saturday against Chelsea, a goal that has been described as one of the best in Premier League history.
But having played with Adam in the 2011/12 season, Sky Sports pundit Carragher jokingly admitted the Scot's attempts would wind him and his team-mates up.
While analysing Adam's effort at Stamford Bridge, Carragher said: "He tried this two or three times a game. He must have tried this two or three-hundred times in his career.
"Sorry Charlie, it's about time you got one of them. He's tried that many times."
Carragher looked at two examples of long-range attempts from Adam, one at Arsenal and another at Stoke City, both falling wide of the target.
The former Liverpool defender said: "Look where the goalkeeper is, he's hardly off his line and he's still trying! Before it's even got there, these two [Luis Suarez and Andy Carroll] are not even trying to follow it in!
"I'm actually looking at the bench and saying: 'Are you not going to take this fella off?'
"Listen, it is a brilliant goal, well done to him, but it used to wind me up!"
