Division Two Round-Up

Plymouth Argyle moved top of Division Two with a comfortable 3-0 win over Notts County, after Queens Park Rangers lost 2-1 at managerless Oldham Atheltic.

The Pilgrims will be delighted to be top at Christmas and they did it in fine style.

Nathan Lowndes put them ahead on 28 minutes, before a late brace (79 & 82) from Micky Evans (pictured) gave them victory at Home Park.

QPR lost their place at the summit, after going down to Oldham.

The West London outfit took the lead on the half hour through Tony Thorpe, but goals from Ernie Cooksey (67) and John Eyre (86) gave a morale boosting victory to The Latics.

Barnsley moved into third place with their win over fellow play-off contenders Luton Town.

The only goal at Kenilworth Road came in the last minute when youngster Anthony Kay scored.

Brighton slipped up at Tranmere Rovers, with Ryan Taylor's late penalty the difference between the two sides at Prenton Park.

Hartlepool United and Colchester played out a goalless draw at Victoria Park, with the only incident of note coming in the first minute when Alan White was sent off for the visitors.

Bristol City moved into the play-off spots with a 1-0 win over Stockport County at Ashton Gate.

Scottish striker Lee Peacock grabbed the only goal of the game on 69 minutes.

Peterborough United grabbed their first home win of the season with a 3-1 win over Rushden & Diamonds and also climbed out of the relegation zone.

Rushden had taken the lead just after half time when Paul Kitson struck, but The Posh fought back in fine style.

Callum Willock levelled with 13 minutes remaining, and then Curtis Woodhouse (84 pen) and David Farrell (86) added two more in the final six minutes to seal all three points.

Wycombe Wanderers climbed off the bottom of the table with a fine 2-0 victory over high-flying Bournemouth at The Causeway Stadium.

Tony Adams's side went ahead on the stroke of half time when Keith Ryan scored and then made sure of the win with just 15 minutes left when loanee Luke Moore struck.

Chesterfield now find themselves at the foot of the table, after they played out a 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday.

Swindon Town won the mid-table battle at Griffin Park with a 2-0 success over Brentford and will now look to push on for a play-off berth.

Brian Howard opened the scoring after 66 minutes, before Sam Parkin completed the scoring with eight minutes remaining.

Grimsby against Wrexham and Port Vale versus Blackpool were both postponed.
