Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed his interest in Joey Keith.Bournemouth manager Sean O'Driscoll has confirmed his interest in signing midfielder Joey Keith.
The left-sided player is available on a free transfer after being released at the end of the season by League One rivals Colchester United.
The Dean Court club have tabled a contract offer to the 26-year-old (pictured) this week, with the former West Ham United trainee having visited the South Coast outfit late last month.
O'Driscoll is keen to find a replacement for the departed Garreth O'Connor and the Cherries boss is hopeful a deal with the versatile Keith can be struck.
"We had a couple of proposals from his agent and we put something together and faxed it off this (Monday) afternoon," O'Driscoll told the Bournemouth Daily Echo.
"He came down to see us at the end of last month, he's a good footballer and he knows what we're about because he's played against us lots of times.
"He knows a few of the players here already and I'm sure he would fit in."
One player that is not on O'Driscoll's priority list is former Sunderland winger Thomas Butler.
Butler is looking for pastures new after seeing out his short-term contract with Hartlepool United.
The Republic of Ireland international was linked with a move to Bradford City and despite receiving contact from the player's agent, O'Driscoll says he has no plans to pursue the 24-year-old.
"His agent rang us up, but I didn't speak to either him or the player," O'Driscoll added.
"We do need a wide player and will keep him in mind."
