The 26-year-old is looking for pastures new after being released by Colchester United at the end of the season.
Despite visiting Dean Court late last month, Keith turned down the offer tabled to him by Cherries boss Sean O'Driscoll.
Keith is thought to have received a better offer from an unnamed League Two club and the former West Ham United trainee seems set to drop a division ahead of the new campaign.
"There was room for negotiation on the deal we tabled, but we couldn't match the money he's been offered elsewhere," O'Driscoll told the club's official website.
Meanwhile, local reports are suggesting that Cherries striker Alan Connell has held initial talks with Torquay United.
The 22-year-old was offered a new deal with Bournemouth, but the hit-man may be ready for a move to Leroy Rosenior's side for next season.
In other news, former Bournemouth goalkeeper Kevin Scriven has joined Conference South club Farnborough Town on a one-year contract.
The 20-year-old was not offered a new contract by the South Coast side at the season's end.
