League One round-up

Swansea City and Huddersfield Town recorded victories in League One on Saturday.

Swansea City and Huddersfield Town have leapfrogged Southend United at the summit of League One.

The Swans returned to the top of the table in the division's match of the day - a 2-1 away success at Southend.

Goals from Lee Trundle (40 - pictured) and Adebayo Akinfenwa (47) set Swansea on their way to victory at Roots Hall.

A late strike from Freddy Eastwood proved not enough for The Shrimpers, as they dropped to third with defeat to Kenny Jackett's side on Saturday.

Huddersfield Town are second on goal difference after a fine 2-1 win at Yeovil Town.

Andy Booth (11) and Mark Hudson (39) gave The Terriers a two-goal half time lead before Lee Johnson made the match a contest with a reply two minutes after the break.

Despite Hudson being sent off deep into injury time for a second bookable offence, Peter Jackson's side held on for the win at Huish Park.

Brentford kept the pressure on the top three with a late 2-1 victory at Hartlepool United.

DJ Campbell gave The Bees a half time lead before Antony Sweeney levelled matters for Pools on 72 minutes.

Martin Allen's side, however, claimed the points at Victoria Park when Lloyd Owusu scored the winner six minutes later.

Chesterfield got two goals from veteran striker Wayne Allison to earn a 2-0 win over Port Vale.

The much-travelled goalscorer broke the deadlock on 31 minutes for The Spireites before sealing the points with a second goal on 67 minutes.

Despite bringing in some new faces this week, Martin Foyle's side had no reply in the early kick-off at Saltergate.

Barnsley remain in the play-off places after a goalless draw at Yorkshire rivals Bradford City.

Both sides finished the match with ten men, with Barnsley's Brian Howard being sent off on 36 minutes for violent conduct.

That was levelled out on 72 minutes when Bradford's Ben Muirhead saw red for a second bookable offence.

Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest stay just outside the top six following a 1-1 draw at Dean Court.

Nicky Southall gave Forest the lead on 19 minutes before Brian Stock earned The Cherries a point with an equaliser on 64 minutes.

Colchester United moved closer to the play-off places with a late 2-1 victory at Rotherham United.

Despite The Millers having a half time lead through a Deon Burton penalty, a Shaun Barker own goal ten minutes after the break restored parity at Millmoor.

That set up Chris Iwelumo to strike Colchester's winner with five minutes left to earn The U's all three points in South Yorkshire.

Goals from Ishmel Demontagnac (15) and new loan signing Eric Skora (57) gave Walsall a 2-0 victory over struggling Gillingham at The Bescot Stadium.

Milton Keynes Dons moved out of the relegation places with an important 2-1 win at fellow strugglers Tranmere Rovers.

Michael Jackson gave Tranmere a half time lead, but two second half goals in the space of a minute from Izale McLeod gave Danny Wilson's side the win.

The former Derby County hit-man equalised with a penalty on 57 minutes before striking an immediate winner for the Buckinghamshire club.
