Paul Merson's side made hard work of their Southern Section quarter final at The Bescot Stadium, with the visitors taking the lead through Charlie Griffin after six minutes.
James Constable restored parity for The Saddlers on 17 minutes before Julian Bennett (22) gave the home side a 2-1 half time lead.
The Black Country club looked destined for the semi-finals before Griffin made it 2-2 with seven minutes remaining.
However, Leitao proved to be Walsall's hero when he scored the winner with two minutes left to send the League One club through.
Colchester United followed their league win over Milton Keynes Dons by dumping Danny Wilson's side out the LDV Vans Trophy with a 2-1 success at The National Hockey Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Pablo Mills gave MK Dons the lead on 58 minutes, but The U's levelled three minutes later through Karl Duguid.
The allowed Neil Danns to clinch Phil Parkinson's side a semi-final place with a winner with 16 minutes remaining.

It was the fourth match between both sides in league and cup this month, with John Ward's side adding an LDV Vans Trophy scalp to their earlier success over The U's in the FA Cup second round.
