Colchester United are third in League One after vital 2-0 win over Hartlepool United.
Colchester United leapfrogged Huddersfield Town into third place in League One after vital 2-0 win over ten-man Hartlepool United.
Following a goalless first half at Layer Road, struggling Pools were reduced to ten men after Darren Williams was sent off on the hour mark courtesy of a second yellow card for fouling Colchester striker Billy Clarke.
With the man advantage, Phil Parkinson's side claimed the points with two late goals from Neil Danns (83 & 90).
The result takes The U's to within a point of second-placed Brentford and the automatic promotion places, while Hartlepool are fourth from bottom and a point from safety in the table.
Swansea City are also in the hunt for automatic promotion after coming from a goal down to defeat struggling Swindon Town 2-1 at The Liberty Stadium.
After a goalless first half, Ricky Shakes gave The Robins the lead on 62 minutes, but their South Wales hosts restored parity ten minutes later with a fine finish from Andy Robinson.
Adrian Forbes was Swansea's hero with the winner on 79 minutes, as Kenny Jackett's side went three points adrift of Brentford and second place.
Swindon, however, remain in trouble at the other end of the table, with Iffy Onuora's side three points adrift of safety.
Finally, a first-half strike from James Hayter (17) gave Bournemouth a 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Walsall at The Bescot Stadium.
The Saddlers are also three points adrift of safety as a result, while The Cherries are six points clear of the bottom four.
