The highly-rated custodian was delighted to sort out his future at the Championship club.
"I'm glad it has been done and dusted before the season starts so I can fully concentrate on my football without worrying about contract details," said Gerken.
"This season is going to be a big one for me personally and a big one for the club.
"I want us to make our mark as a Championship club and not be known as a 'one season wonder', and although it took a bit of time to sort out the full details of the contract, there was never any doubt that I would be signing a new deal here."
