Colchester United have signed Akanni-Sunday Wasiu after the Nigerian striker impressed on trial.
Wasiu has scored three goals for the Us during pre-season and has now secured a full-time contract with Geraint Williams' side.
The 24-year-old had been looking to break into League football after most recently playing for St Albans City.
His signing will help to fill the void created by Kevin Lisbie's departure to Ipswich Town, with the former Charlton Athletic forward saying he could have been Colchester's highest-paid player if he had not left.
Lisbie told the Colchester Gazette: "The offer of a new contract made my decision a little bit harder.
"Colchester gave me the opportunity to stay and it's good to know how much they wanted me, because apparently I would have been the highest-paid player ever had I stayed. That's a nice feeling."
