Youngsters Tom Bender and Carl Pentney have penned contract extensions with Colchester.
Defender Bender, 19, emerged through the Us' youth ranks to sign his first professional deal in January 2010, although he has managed just one first-team substitute appearance and spent time on loan at Accrington last season.
Goalkeeper Pentney will also be hoping to make more of an impression on Colchester manager John Ward next term having struggled to break into his plans, spending time on loan with non-league sides Bath and Hayes & Yeading over the past couple of years.
