Wilson hoping Porter will shine

Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson has urged striker Chris Porter to seize his opportunity in the first team.

The 28-year-old was handed his first league start of the season in Monday's 1-0 win over Portsmouth after Dave Kitson suffered a hamstring injury in training on Sunday and impressed, winning the match-deciding penalty in the second half. And with Kitson out of the picture for at least a couple of weeks, Porter looks set to keep the shirt. "We need the quality of Chris in the squad because he is going to be called upon as we go along," Wilson said. "Maybe his opportunity has come a bit quicker than expected but it is there now and he has got to take it. "Chris is not a sulker, he gets his head down, trains every day and I have been happy with him."
