Steven MacLean could have his caution from Saturday rescinded by the referee.Referee Ray Olivier has agreed to review the controversial caution he dished out to Sheffield Wednesday's Steven MacLean.
The Owls striker was shown the yellow card for celebrating after netting his second goal in the 3-1 win at Chesterfield on Saturday.
MacLean responded to scoring by gesturing with his backside to the home fans, interpreted as an act of provocation by the referee.
However the 22-year-old insists that he was merely highlighting which part of his body made the final connection with the ball.
Olivier has let common sense prevail and has now agreed to review the incident if he is given tapes of the game.
"I cautioned him for unsporting behaviour, showing his backside to the crowd," said Olivier.
"He says the ball hit his backside. If they send me the video I'll have a look at it, then it will be up to me to decide."
It was the prolific hit-man's third booking of the season, and Owls boss Paul Sturrock will no doubt be pleased if it can be struck from the record.
