Sheffield Wednesday winger Wade Small will use a suspension to undergo a minor operation.
Small is serving a three-match ban after being sent off against Coventry City last weekend and will now have surgery on his knee.
The summer signing from MK Dons has been carrying the injury for a while and Wednesday boss Brian Laws feels it is the perfect time to have the problem fixed.
"It's a very minor operation to clear up a small problem in his knee," Laws told the club's official website.
"While he's got the three-game ban it's an ideal opportunity to have this done."
Small sat out Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to Cardiff City and will also miss Championship games against West Brom and Leicester City.
If the operation proves to be a success, Small could return for his side's fixture with Norwich City on December 9.
