Sheffield Wednesday trio James O'Connor, Jermaine Johnson and Lewis Buxton signed new contracts despite not being offered better terms.
O'Connor accepted what Gary Megson described as a 'substantial' drop in pay, while Johnson and Buxton agreed the same wages as before. Megson sees it as a welcome sign of their commitment to the club. He told The Star: "They chose to sign because of the club, and not for financial reasons. "James has taken a substantial drop; Jermaine is on exactly the same terms as he was on before, as is Lewis. "Now they have to show what is expected of them."
