Marcus Pedersen gave Barnsley the lead after 15 minutes with a superb volley, but Matty Fryatt equalised on the hour with an equally good goal.
Barnsley defender Jean-Yves M'Voto was lucky to escape punishment after he seemingly handballed a cross inside his own box - a decision Jones was not happy with: "A draw is a fair result.
"Four draws on the bounce, good away performances at Bolton and Brighton.
"When you see the handball, the ref can't miss it. He hasn't handballed it, he's actually punched it.
"Same as last week, we don't get the rub of the green, the linesman gets it wrong.
"I keep going on about this but something has to be done with technology."
He also said that he is hoping to keep striker Fryatt on loan from Hull City, but that no agreement has been reached yet: "I spoke to Matty yesterday and I'll go speak to Steve (Bruce) and see what they want to do.
"Matty needs to have a service and it's no good pumping balls long.
"We couldn't get it out at the back, so it's no good playing through like we did last week at Bolton, so we needed a focal point.
"I thought Atdhe (Nuhiu) did really well and could have scored as well."
An altercation between Pedersen and Reda Johnson midway through the second half threatened to spill over, but Jones said there was nothing doing: "Both of them are stupid.
"It's a bad challenge, and then all of a sudden it's argy-bargy.
"They know they can't do that and they're a bit lucky. But at the end of the day you don't want to see people get sent off."
However Barnsley manager David Flitcroft disagreed, saying: "Reda Johnson's gone for him, there's no doubt about it.
"He's thrown his head towards Pedersen, but the linesman wasn't brave enough to see it and deal with it, so they've kept 11 men on the pitch."
Flitcroft also said he was happy with his team, despite them sitting in 22nd in the Championship table: "We'll keep driving the squad forward and see how high we can get.
"We achieved great success last season and we'll build off that.
"The group is improving every day and that's what keeps my energy to a maximum."
