It was a costly defeat for Lennie Lawrence's men, who had Tony Vidmar sent off for a second bookable offence in the second half.
Both of the Eagles' goals came in the second half at Ninian Park, with Andy Johnson (pictured) scoring his 26th goal of the season ten minutes after the restart.
Julian Gray, who spent two months on loan with The Bluebirds this season, saw his shot parried and Johnson arrived on queue to smash home the rebound to give Palace the lead.
The match was sealed in Iain Dowie side's favour when Australian international Vidmar was sent off for a late challenge that saw him receive a second booking with five minutes remaining.
Two minutes after that, The Eagles secured the win in South Wales when Wayne Routledge fired home Johnson's return ball for the 2-0 victory.
