Crewe have confirmed that they have had 'progressive' talks with Juan Ugarte.
Crewe have confirmed that they have had 'progressive' talks with Wrexham striker Juan Ugarte.
The prolific Spaniard is available on a free transfer - with his contract having expired - and has not been short of suitors this summer.
Ugarte netted 22 goals in 38 starts last term, despite Wrexham's relegation, in a run of form that has attracted admiring glances from Leeds, Cardiff and Oldham amongst others.
However, it would now appear that Crewe have emerged as the leading contenders to land his signature.
Meanwhile, Dario Gradi has confirmed that he expects Clayton Ince, Neil Sorvel and Colin Murdock to all leave the club in the not too distant future.
Goalkeeper Ince is expected to sign for another as yet unnamed Championship club, Sorvel is to drop down to League Two with Shrewsbury, while Murdock is likely to pen a contract at Rotherham.
