The duo featured in the club's pre-season friendly against Barnet on Saturday and impressed manager Neale Cooper.
The Gills chief is looking to strengthen his squad after the club's relegation to League One and he admits he was pleased with the performances of McCunnie and Sancho.
"Jamie McCunnie, the right back from Scotland, we had a look at and he is a good player," Cooper told the club's official website.
"Brent Sancho, the big centre half, came on in the second half. He looks quite good."
McCunnie is seeking a new club after leaving Ross County at the end of last season and he had trained with Cardiff City earlier in the week.
Cardiff boss Dave Jones alluded to an offer for the 22-year-old but it now appears the right back is trying to clinch a deal at The Priestfield Stadium.
Trinidad & Tobago defender Sancho was axed by Dundee in May and trained with Brighton earlier this month before pitching up in Kent.
In addition to assessing McCunnie and Sancho against Barnet, Cooper also put a French striker called Claudio under the microscope.
