Hibernian have agreed a fee with Cardiff City for striker Derek Riordan.Hibernian have confirmed that they have agreed a fee with Cardiff City for striker Derek Riordan.
Skysports.com understand that the fee is thought to be in the region of £600,000, with the Scotland international set to meet with the English Championship outfit to discuss personal terms.
The news comes after Bluebirds boss Dave Jones had agreed a fee with another Scottish Premier League club in Kilmarnock for striker Kris Boyd this week.
Riordan was placed on the transfer list at Easter Road after refusing to sign a new deal with The Hibees this summer.
The 22-year-old was linked with moves to Celtic, Sunderland and Leeds United, while Cardiff had a previous bid - thought to be in the region of £500,000 - turned down by the Edinburgh club.
The Ninian Park side, however, have come back in for Riordan and Hibs boss Tony Mowbray has now admitted defeat in his attempts to keep the striker at the club.
"We all recognise that Derek is a talented player and we have made extensive efforts over a long period of time to agree a contract extension," Mowbray told Hibs' official website.
"Unfortunately, Derek has made it clear that he sees his future elsewhere.
"The move is not yet confirmed and is subject to Derek and his agent agreeing personal terms with Cardiff City."
