Super-sub Lee gets points

Alan Lee's 50th League goal gave Cardiff all three points over Brighton.

Cardiff City defeated Brighton & Hove Albion 2-1 at The Withdean thanks to Alan Lee's 50th league goal.

Lee took all three points back to Ninian Park with a 73rd minute strike, just 30 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Welsh international Jason Koumas (pictured) gave Cardiff the lead after 12 minutes, latching onto Cameron Jerome's cross to give The Bluebirds an early advantage.

Koumas almost made it two, minutes later, but he saw his effort curl agonisingly wide of the upright.

Brighton equalised on 61 minutes through Paul McShane, who pounced on a mistake by Neil Alexander in the Cardiff goal.

Jake Robinson's hard work down the left was rewarded when his cross-shot was parried straight to Manchester United loanee McShane who made no mistake from close range.

Cardiff boss Dave Jones then made the decision to bring Lee on for the final 20 minutes.

Lee made an instant impact as he slammed home after a long ball was poorly dealt with by the Brighton defence.

The home side threw everything at it in the closing stages but could not get past Alexander in the Cardiff goal.
