Bluebirds swoop for Don

Cardiff City have secured the signing of Scottish international Kevin McNaughton.

Cardiff City have beaten a clutch of clubs to the signing of Scottish international Kevin McNaughton.

The Aberdeen defender has signed a pre-contract with The Bluebirds, having shunned interest from Sheffield Wednesday, Luton, NEC Nijmegen and Brann, and will be officially unveiled on July 1 at Ninian Park.

"Following Glenn Loovens' signature, to secure another player of the stature so soon after the season has ended should be seen as a clear signal as to what our intentions are this summer," Cardiff chairman Sam Hammam told the club's website.

"The fans can expect to see a pretty aggressive recruitment drive over this summer in order to back Dave Jones with the aim of reaching as high as possible and hopefully a top-six finish. I will do anything I can towards that eventuality.

"I can not guarantee that we will succeed either in our recruitment or our aim, but I can guarantee that we will do our damnedest to succeed. I have the experience to do it and in Dave Jones we have the best man to make it happen."
