Keeper now prepared to stay at London Road beyond this season

Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis has confirmed his agent is in talks regarding a new contract and he is prepared to stay at London Road. Lewis, who signed from Norwich in a £400,000 deal in January 2008, is out of contract at the end of the season and has been widely tipped for a move during the January transfer window. He started against Barnsley on Saturday in the absence of regular No.1 Paul Jones and has suggested that a deal with Peterborough could yet come to fruition. The 24-year-old told the Evening Telegraph: "My agent is currently in talks with the club. It's early stages at the moment, but if the terms are acceptable to me and the club then I will stay. "I'm at a club where the manager has a lot of faith in both his goalkeepers. "I have had to work hard to get back in the side and rightly so as Paul Jones has had a good season." Prior to replacing Jones for the 4-3 home defeat by Barnsley, Lewis had not featured since suffering a serious knee injury during the League One play-off semi-final at MK Dons in May.
