Sean Morrison looks set for a move to Cardiff after Reading boss Nigel Adkins confirmed the defender was keen to enter talks.
Morrison started both of Reading’s opening games this season – a 2-2 draw at Wigan and a 3-1 win over Newport County, but Cardiff are reported to have since submitted a bid for the 32-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking to boost his defensive options and Watford’s Joel Ekstrand has also been mooted as a possible target, although the future of captain Mark Hudson remains uncertain after being linked away.
Adkins admitted that the former Swindon centre back was keen on a move to South Wales and expects negotiations to get underway.
"Sean came to see me this morning and said he wanted to speak to Cardiff. He's seen the director of football (Nick Hammond) as well to reiterate what he's said to me," Adkins told Wales Online.
"So obviously via agents or whatever, a lot of things have been said.
"After several conversations, as it stands, there's a good chance that he is going to have a conversation with Cardiff.
"It's now an ongoing conversation - all through the transfer window players become unsettled, history tells us that.
"This is when they can move, be bought or sold. It's great from the public's point of view when you can see it all going on, it's quite entertaining.
"For us obviously, it is disruptive but it's the reality of football. I'm a very positive person and we will deal with this. Our morale will remain high."
