Millwall kept alive their play-off ambitions with a 3-0 victory over Plymouth Argyle.

In a one-sided encounter at The Den, The Lions enjoyed a comfortable afternoon to move to within three points of the top six.

There were precious few chances in the capital but Millwall could have enjoyed the perfect start when Josh Simpson lashed over the bar inside the opening 60 seconds.

The Lions did not have to wait long for the opener, which arrived on 15 minutes, as Danny Dichio took advantage of some slack defending to supply Peter Sweeney with the chance to finish.

Plymouth tried to respond immediately with Micky Evans shooting over but they rarely threatened to return to the West Country with a point.

Millwall stretched their lead on 56 minutes, with Dichio again the architect as his pass provided Barry Hayles with the opportunity to hit a thumping drive.

On 63 minutes, Dichio got his name deservedly on the scoresheet when he headed home a cross from David Livermore to put the seal on the win.
