Plymouth captain Romain Larrieu is confident his team can launch a serious promotion bid in League One this season.
Argyle suffered the heartbreak of relegation from the Championship last season following a disastrous start to the campaign - a setback which they never recovered from.
Ten games passed without a win and Larrieu is wary his team need to begin their new campaign as they intend to finish it - in the upper echelons of the division.
New manager Peter Reid has taken over the helm at Home Park and the goalkeeper says confidence in the Pilgrims ranks is high ahead of their opening clash with Southampton on August 7.
But the Frenchman stressed the importance of starting the season well if they are to regain their status in the second tier.
The 33-year-old said: "It has been hard to swallow, but life carries on and we have another job on our hands, to get this football club back up again.
"We can't dwell on what happened last season because if we do that we won't give ourselves a chance to progress this year.
"We start with a clean slate and a new manager to boot and hopefully that will end up in us going back up this season.
"The talent was there last season, but we couldn't beat the drop in the end, so I have no doubt that we have the ability to do well in this division this season.
"Results are what makes a team gel though, so a good start is pretty important because it will give us a lot of confidence."
