Fletcher: We should have won

Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher had nothing but praise for his side after they drew 2-2 with League Two leaders Gillingham.

Argyle led twice thanks to a close range strike from central defender Curtis Nelson and a thumping 20-yard effort from teenage midfielder Luke Young. Ben Strevens' clinical finish from 12 yards made it 1-1 in the 38th minute and Gills skipper Adam Barrett - who played for Argyle 12 years ago - powered in a late header to earn the Gills a point. "We should have won the game," Fletcher said. "It is as simple as that. The lads just switched off a couple of times, first half and second half and it cost us. It's disappointing but my lads were brilliant today, absolutely brilliant. "They worked their socks off, worked hard for one another and showed a good bit of quality out there. "Obviously we had a game plan because Gillingham are top of the table and steam-rolling anyone they come up against and we showed a lot of heart, a lot of desire and a lot of quality as well."
