Premier League is brilliantly unpredictable, says Ed Chamberlin

The Premier League has always been brilliantly unpredictable, but has it ever been more unpredictable than this season?

My Super 6 predictions certainly appear to be suffering even more than normal! There seem to be shocks every week, but nothing beats West Ham's triumph at Manchester City and in the process pulling off wins in their first three away games of the season at Anfield, the Emirates and the Etihad.

Backing that hat-trick of away wins with Sky Bet would have netted you a tidy £1,120 from just £1!

On the Sky Bet Premier League Preview show last week, Paul Merson fancied the Hammers' chances at City. I thought he'd gone completely mad.

That's another in a long line of good Premier League stories at the moment. Chelsea against Arsenal and the fall-out from the clash at Stamford Bridge has made the headlines all week, while the Jose Mourinho / Arsene Wenger rivalry will run all season.

The north-east rivals are united with concern right now. Sunderland and Newcastle sit at the bottom of the table with only four points between them, and their odds for relegation are in freefall. Sunderland are already 1/5 for the drop, with Newcastle down to 5/4. Mark Hughes and Stoke find themselves in the bottom three, with the relegation betting unrecognisable already from the start of the season. More on that in a moment.

At the other end, Leicester continue as the season's surprise package. Claudio Ranieri started the season as one of the favourites to be the first Premier League manager to lose his job. That outcome is now a 50/1 chance with Sky Bet. That alone tells the story of Leicester's season. The bookies won't be offering big odds if they go two down again at home to Arsenal on Saturday.

Manchester United and Louis van Gaal have garnered many adverse words over the last few weeks, yet somehow they sit second in the table just two points behind their neighbours, who prior to last week we had all been raving about.

Anthony Martial has had people raving, with world football's most expensive teenage footballer the headline act again last weekend. The youngster finishes in front of goal with ice in his veins. United are an 8/1 chance to win the title along with reigning champions Chelsea, who were 14s this time last week.

Spurs seem to be going nicely under the radar and as I explained last week, I really like the way Mauricio Pochettino is going about his work at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham can still be backed at 5/4 with Sky Bet for a top-six finish, which looks a big price. It will look huge if they can beat Manchester City on Saturday.

I wrote before the season started that Liverpool would be the big story from the first few weeks of the season. Sunday's draw with Norwich cranked the pressure on Brendan Rogers up another notch at the start of a crucial series of home matches. Next up, it's Aston Villa on Saturday.

Live Ford Super Sunday

One of my favourite stories from the season so far has been the success of the three promoted sides. Norwich, Watford and Bournemouth have had a really refreshing approach to the challenge, and all three seem to be thriving.

They were all short in the betting for relegation at the start of the season, but it's a different story now. Norwich are out to 3/1, Bournemouth and Watford to 4/1, which is a dramatic change - and they deserve enormous credit.

On Super Sunday this weekend, we have a first visit to Vicarage Road and I'm really looking forward to getting a close look at the way Quique Sanchez Flores is going about the challenge. Watford have done well so far, winning their last two matches, which means they are looking to win three successive Premier League games for the first time. It's already their best top-flight start since 1986.

On Sunday, they meet Crystal Palace for the first time since the 2013 Championship play-off final, which Palace won 1-0 (after extra-time) at Wembley courtesy of a Kevin Phillips penalty.

Super Kev will be joining us in the studio on Sunday and inevitably we will go down memory lane. Sunday's score line and Saturday's story lines are far harder to predict.
