England youth star Wayne Routledge grabbed the only goal of the game just before the interval.
Second place West Brom saw their game postponed and Norwich could have put a three-point gap between themselves and The Canaries, but it was not to be,
The Eagles started brightly and top-scorer Andy Johnson blasted wide before also failing to convert a Danny Granville free kick from close range.
Norwich keeper Robert Green then kept Palace out when Mark Hudson headed towards goal, but it was not too long before the home side finally went ahead.
Routledge picked up the ball after Tony Popovic saw an effort blocked and he lashed the ball in off the underside of the bar, albeit a slight deflection off Jason Shackell.
Norwich pushed forward into the second period and Nigel Worthington introduced new loan signing Kevin Cooper.
The Wolves man hit the side netting after a nice move, while Mathis Svensson also went close.
It was, though, Palace who should have scored again and Neil Shipperley, Michael Hughes and Johnson were all guilty of missing chances - but it was not to matter as The Eagles held on for all three points.
